Resolve Your Holds
Holds can prevent students from enrolling in courses. Holds can only be lifted by the originating office and must be cleared before you are able to enroll.
Check your holds long before your pick time in order to allow for ample time for resolution. It can take up to 24 hours after a hold is lifted for all services to be reinstated.
Note that the list of holds below is not exhaustive; it shares the most common enrollment holds impacting undergraduates.
Advising Enrollment Holds
ADISM (Non-Degree Advising Required)
Prior to registering for non-degree courses you must seek advising approval.
This hold will be removed by a non-degree advisor once you have completed mandatory advising requirements. Contact the appropriate non-degree advisor if you have questions about this hold.
ADVIS (Advising Required)
You will not be able to register until you contact your academic advisor. Contact your assigned academic advisor to determine next steps.
This hold will be removed by your academic advisor or advising center once you have completed mandatory advising requirements. Contact your assigned academic advisor if you have questions about this hold.
ADVSG (ISSS Advising Needed)

BUSN (Business Advising Action Required)
An advising hold has been placed on your record that prevents enrollment.
In order to resolve it you must contact the Undergraduate Programs Office staff in The School of Business. You may do so by checking your email for instructions, emailing undergrad.business@uconn.edu, or visiting us during our drop-in advising hours.
BUSN2 (Business Advising Required)
An advising hold has been placed on your record that prevents enrollment.
In order to resolve it you must complete required advising steps. Please read the email with instructions sent from your Professional Staff Advisor in the School of Business. Reach out to your Professional Staff Advisor directly with any questions.
EOD (Academic Standing Hold; ASH)
You must fill out your ASP (Academic Success Plan) and meet with your academic success advisor in order to meet your academic standing requirements and to have your ASH (Academic Standing Hold) lifted.

NEWFT (New First Year/Transfer Registration)
All new students will have this hold prior to meeting with their advisor. The hold will be lifted on the day of your scheduled advising time and will be reassigned once you are registered for a full-time schedule.
The message on the hold will read “You have already attended orientation and registered for classes – You will be able to make adjustments to your class schedule once the add/drop period has begun.”
The hold will be removed in late July, once the course schedule reopens for add/drop/swap.
OHOLD (Orientation Advising Hold)
You cannot register for classes unless you attend an orientation session.
This hold will be removed at the beginning of your Orientation session so that you can register for courses.
SSS (CAPS/SSS Counseling Required)
Your initial enrollment for the term has been blocked (you may add/drop).
You must contact the CAPS/SSS office at 486-4040 or by email at caps@uconn.edu to address this hold.
Bursar Holds
ANT OWES (Bursar)
All past due balances $300 or greater will have an ANT OWES – “Enrollment Restricted” hold placed on their account.
This hold is automatically removed every 15 minutes once the student makes payment.

ALL ADMIN (Bursar)
All past due balances $2,000 or greater will have an “ALL Admin” hold placed on their account right before registration for the following semester. Students with this hold could be restricted from university services until their financial obligations or compliance with rules and regulations have been fulfilled.
Students who pay their past-due balance must contact the Office of the Bursar to have an ALL Admin Hold removed manually. If a $2000+ payment is made by personal check or e-check, the Office of the Bursar must wait 7 business days to ensure the check has cleared before lifting an ALL Admin Hold. The hold can be released sooner if the student provides additional backup showing that the check has cleared.

NRF Holds (Bursar)
NRF holds are applied to student accounts by UConn Administrators at the request of various departments (Financial aid, Athletics, Bursar, Tax etc.) and students. These holds prevent refunds being issued for accounts with credit balances for designated period of time.
The hold will be removed by the appropriate administrative office once all requirements are met. For more information, please contact the office noted within the hold.

SFA SF Agreement/1098T (Student Financial Responsibility Agreement)
The SF Responsibility Agreement hold is placed on all active students account when the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement is assigned, and will prevent registration until it has been accepted.
The hold will immediately be released upon completion of the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement/ 1098-T Consent.

Other Holds Impacting Enrollment
ALEDU and ALED2 (AlcoholEdu Compliance)
You have received this hold because you have not completed the mandatory AlcoholEdu program. Log into https://uconnstudents-ct.safecolleges.com to check the status of your assignments.
Contact Student Health and Wellness at alcoholedu@uconn.edu with any questions or if you believe you have received this hold in error.
Upon completion of the program your hold will be removed.
CARE (Office of Student Care and Concern)
Your enrollment is blocked. You must contact the Office of Student Care and Concern at (860) 486-8777.
IMMUN (Immunization Record Required)
Your enrollment is blocked because proof of required immunizations is incomplete/missing.

Your hold will be lifted once documentation is received.
OCS (Office of Community Standards)

ORIEN (ISSS Orientation Required)
ISSS Orientation Required. Contact ISSS at international@uconn.edu or 860-486-3855.
SAPTR (Sexual Assault Prevention Training)
Sexual assault prevention training is required of all rising juniors and higher.

This hold is typically removed within an hour of completing the required training.
Common Holds with No Enrollment Impact
FTRAN (Final High School Transcript Required)
This hold has been placed because you have not submitted your high school transcript. If not submitted, it will impact your financial aid.
The transcript must be sent by your high school to the Admissions Office, 2131 Hillside Road, U-3088, Storrs, CT 06269.

INTNL (F or J Visa Holder)
F/J Visa Holder Positive Service Indicator.

This is not an enrollment hold and does not prevent course registration.
TAX/SSN (Invalid SSN or Tax ID)
The University’s records indicate that either:
1. You did not provide a social security number (SSN) or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) to UConn; or
2. The SSN or ITIN information that you provided to UConn was inaccurate or contained errors; or
3. Your name in the SAS does not match the name on your social security card.
If you are a foreign national who is not eligible for a SSN or an ITIN, please indicate this when completing the Update Social Security Number Request in StudentAdmin.
