Academic Advising & Orientation
Welcome to UConn!
All new students must complete advising modules as part of their online pre-orientation activities to ensure they are prepared for their academic advising experience at Orientation. During Orientation, you’ll be connected to academic resources essential for your success as a Husky, and you’ll also build your schedule of courses in partnership with your academic advising team in your school, college, or regional campus.
- Complete your pre-orientation requirements as soon as you have paid your enrollment deposit. These requirements and modules will be available beginning in March 2026.
- After completing your requirements, you will be able to schedule your Orientation date with the Office of Orientation Services.
- Make sure you have taken all required placement tests at least seven (7) days before your Orientation session.
- If you are a Storrs student, these must be completed at least seven (7) days before your Orientation session or by July 1–whichever date is earlier.
- During your on-campus Orientation session, you will meet with the academic advising team in your school, college, or regional campus.
- Course enrollment/registration will occur during your Orientation program.

AP | IB | A Level Credit
AP, IB, and A-Level Credit guidelines and equivalencies can be found on the Office of Undergraduate Admissions webpage.
Course Placement
Information on placement in English, mathematics, and Chemistry courses can be found on the Course Placement website.
- Writing Course Equivalency Review information for transfer students only
- Math Placement Assessment waiver request form for students who began at UConn prior to Fall 2013 and wish to be waived from the Mathematics Placement Assessment requirement
Transfer Credit & Course Equivalency (including UConn ECE credit)
- Students who attend Connecticut State Community College (CT State) and earn an associate degree that has been determined as Transfer-Oriented by UConn are eligible to have University General Education (Common Curriculum) requirements waived.
